TIPNG is Associate Member representative

TRANSPARENCY International PNG (TIPNG) has been appointed as the formally-recognized Associate Member Representative on the Media Council of Papua New Guinea (MCPNG) Management Council.

TIPNG has been a long-serving Associate Member of the MCPNG, and has a close working relationship in their shared role as Co-Chairs on the Community Coalition Against Corruption (CCAC), a loose network of civil society organizations who work and provide advocacy against corruption in all forms of public office and responsibility.

The CCAC has been an effective voice which speaks on behalf of a large majority of memberships in the country. One of the largest groupings within the CCAC membership, is the PNG Council of Churches.

In its new role as the Representative voice for all Associate Members on the MCPNG Management Council, TIPNG will ensure there is transparency and accountability in all that the MCPNG does at the Management Council level.

The Associate membership category of the MCPNG is its largest category of members, and includes small media organizations, civil society organizations, private and state run media units and public relations agencies.

Other long-serving Associate Members of the Media Council are Correctional Services Media, Investment Promotion Authority Media Unit, the Prime Minister's Media Unit, and others from both the private, and government media relation sectors.

The Council's Associate Membership Category remains open for new members.
